Painters in Oakville
Absolut Painting paints homes in Oakville: interiors, exteriors, millwork, cabinets and whole-house repaints. Old Oakville and the streets south of Lakeshore hold large houses where the painting is expected to carry the room, with a sheen schedule that changes from walls to trim to doors to ceilings and a lot of millwork to spray. North of the highway the houses are newer and open, in builder flat. Bronte and the older lakeside pockets have been renovated more than once, and downtown has condos. We walk the house with you and write a quote that lists each step of prep.
Oakville, on the ground.
A large Oakville house is a sequencing job. Trim, doors and built-ins are sprayed first in sealed rooms, then the walls are cut to the finished trim by hand, then the ceilings. The schedule of finishes is written out: flat on ceilings, matte or eggshell on walls, satin or semi-gloss enamel on trim and doors, so the house reads as one decision. Exteriors south of Lakeshore are often stone with painted wood trim, soffits and fascia that take weather from the lake and need scraping, priming and two coats. Older Bronte houses add plaster and previous repairs to find and fix. Condos run on [the building's hours and elevator booking].
On site, furniture is moved and covered, floors protected, holes filled, cracks caulked, sanded and spot-primed. Two full coats, tape pulled while the paint is still soft. The crew works floor by floor or wing by wing so you keep finished rooms, cleans up every day and walks the finished work with you before leaving. A touch-up visit follows. Benjamin Moore and Sherwin-Williams paint, a [2-year] written workmanship warranty, insured and WSIB covered [John confirms]. John Kotlar quotes the job and leads the crew from the first sealed room to the final walk-through.
Large houses in Oakville are painted in a planned order, trim first and walls cut to it, so the finishes read as one decision across every room.
Oakville runs from large houses south of Lakeshore with heavy millwork and stone and wood exteriors, to older renovated pockets in Bronte, newer open-plan subdivisions north of the highway in builder flat, and downtown condos.
House work sets up a sealed spray area that moves through the home, while condo work needs a booked elevator and the building's own working hours.
Whole-house repaints with a sheen schedule, sprayed millwork and built-ins, exterior trim, soffits and fascia, cabinet refinishing and condo repaints are the Oakville norm.

Questions from Oakville
How do you keep a whole-house repaint in a large Oakville home from taking over our lives?
By phasing it. We agree an order of rooms at the walkthrough, set up a sealed spray area that moves with the work, and finish one floor or wing before starting the next so you always have rooms to live in. Daily clean-up and furniture put back each evening in the rooms we are not in. [John confirms the number of days once the scope is final.] The same crew stays on the job from start to finish.
We want the trim and built-ins sprayed, but we are living in the house. How is the dust and overspray controlled?
Each room is sealed with plastic at the doorways, floors and walls are masked, and the spraying is done with the room closed and a fan venting outside. Doors are taken off and sprayed flat in the garage or a sealed area where possible. Overspray does not leave the sealed room, and the crew cleans the room before the plastic comes down. Walls are painted after the trim, so any dust on them is sanded away before colour.
Our exterior is stone with painted wood trim, soffits and fascia facing the lake. What does that need?
The wood is washed, scraped to a sound edge, feather-sanded, primed on bare wood and painted with two coats of a top-grade exterior enamel or acrylic, with the stone masked and any caulking at the joints replaced. Lake-facing wood fades and weathers faster, so two full coats matter there. Rotten fascia is pointed out before painting rather than painted over. Exterior work is booked for warm, dry weather.
