Answer first, then the detail. No prices in the guides; every number comes from a walk-through of your rooms.
What decides the cost of interior painting in Toronto
The cost of interior painting is set by how much preparation the walls need, how high and how cut-up the rooms are, and how far the colour has to move. Trim, doors, ceilings and closets each add hours of edge work rather than square footage. Absolut Painting does not publish prices, because two rooms of the same size can carry very different amounts of work. The walkthrough is where the quote gets written against what is actually on the walls.
How to choose a white paint that looks right in your room
Every white paint leans somewhere, towards yellow, red, blue or grey, and the light in your room decides which lean you see. North-facing rooms cool a white down, south-facing rooms warm it up, and artificial light at night changes it again. Pick two or three candidates with the undertone your room needs, paint large samples on two different walls and look at them over a full day. The white that looks clean at every hour is the one.
Benjamin Moore vs Sherwin-Williams: what a painter actually uses
Both companies make excellent paint, and the difference on your wall comes down to which line you choose, not which logo is on the can. Benjamin Moore Regal Select and Sherwin-Williams Duration are the workhorses, Aura and Emerald are the premium interior lines, and Advance and Emerald Urethane are the trim and cabinet enamels. Absolut Painting holds trade accounts with both and picks by the surface, not by habit. There is no winner, only the right product for the room.
Painting vs replacing kitchen cabinets: when spraying makes sense
Painting makes sense when the cabinet boxes are solid, the doors are wood or MDF and the layout already works for you. It does not make sense when the boxes are swollen from water, the doors are peeling laminate or the kitchen needs to change shape. A proper sprayed finish is doors and drawers off, degreased, sanded, primed and sprayed in a dust-free set-up, with two coats of a cabinet enamel. Done that way, it is a finish you can wash and live with for years.
How long interior painting takes, room by room and whole house
A single room in good condition is usually a one or two day job, and a whole house is measured in days to a couple of weeks depending on size, condition and how much trim is included. The time is mostly preparation and drying, not rolling. Absolut sets the schedule on the walkthrough and tells you which rooms are out of use on which days.
When to paint your house exterior in Ontario
Exterior painting in Ontario runs from late spring to early fall, when the surface and the air stay above the paint's minimum temperature through the night and the dew holds off until the coat has set. May to September is the reliable window across the GTA. Weeks at either end can work with the right product and a dry forecast. The substrate decides the preparation: brick, stucco, wood and aluminum siding each need a different start.
Paint sheen guide: flat, matte, eggshell, satin, semi-gloss and gloss
Sheen is how much light a dried paint reflects, and it trades washability against forgiveness. Flat and matte hide wall flaws and touch up invisibly but scrub poorly. Satin, semi-gloss and gloss wipe clean and shrug off hands and boots but show every roller mark and patch. For most homes the answer is matte or eggshell on walls, flat on ceilings and satin or semi-gloss on trim and doors, adjusted room by room.
How to prepare your home for the painters
You do less than you think. Absolut's crew moves and covers furniture, protects the floors, fills and sands the walls and cleans up each day. What helps most is taking down wall art and small breakables, clearing closet floors if closets are being painted, sorting out parking and any condo elevator booking, and having a plan for pets and kids on the first morning. Everything else is the crew's job.
