Painters in Burlington
Absolut Painting paints homes in Burlington: interiors, exteriors, condos, trim and cabinets. The city gives us two very different jobs. In Aldershot and the older neighbourhoods the houses are postwar or earlier, on wide lots, with plaster or early drywall, and they are often being opened up, which leaves new drywall meeting old wall in the same room. Downtown and along the lake the work is in condos, where the ceilings are often bare painted concrete, the walls are drywall on steel stud and the schedule is set by the building. We walk the house or the suite and write a quote that lists every prep step.
Burlington, on the ground.
In a condo the surfaces are plain but the ceiling is not. Concrete ceilings carry form marks and patches that show in flat light, so they are filled where it matters, primed with a product that bonds to concrete and painted with a flat ceiling paint rolled in one direction. Walls take a primer over builder flat and two coats. [The building sets working hours, elevator bookings and insurance requirements], and the crew works inside them. In an Aldershot house that has had a wall removed, the patch where the wall was has to be skimmed, sanded and primed so it disappears, and the ceiling line is repaired before anything is painted.
On site, furniture is moved and covered, floors protected, holes filled, cracks caulked, sanded and spot-primed. Two full coats, cut by hand at the ceiling and the trim. Doors and trim sprayed where the room can be sealed. The crew cleans up every day and walks the finished rooms with you before leaving, then books a touch-up visit. Benjamin Moore and Sherwin-Williams paint, a [2-year] written workmanship warranty, insured and WSIB covered [John confirms]. John Kotlar quotes the job and leads the crew, in a house or a suite, and signs off at the end.
Condo suites in Burlington often have bare concrete ceilings, so they are primed with a bonding product and rolled flat in one direction rather than treated like drywall.
Burlington holds postwar and older houses in Aldershot and the lakeside neighbourhoods, many being opened up, alongside downtown condos with concrete ceilings and drywall on steel stud.
House installs load from the driveway, while condo work runs through a booked service elevator inside the building's working hours.
Condo repaints and concrete ceilings, post-renovation patching and whole-house interiors in older houses, trim and doors, exterior aluminum and wood trim, and cabinet refinishing are the usual Burlington work.

Questions from Burlington
The ceilings in our downtown Burlington condo are exposed concrete. Can they be painted to look even?
Yes, within what concrete allows. The crew fills the worst voids and form marks, primes the ceiling with a bonding primer made for concrete, and rolls two coats of flat ceiling paint in a single direction so the texture reads even. Some form lines will still show, which many owners like. If you want a perfectly smooth ceiling, that is a drywall job rather than a paint job, and we say so.
We took a wall out in our Aldershot house. Can you make the patch disappear?
Yes. The drywall patch where the wall stood is taped, skimmed in two or three coats, sanded and primed so it matches the texture of the old wall beside it, and the ceiling seam is treated the same way. Then the whole wall and ceiling are painted corner to corner rather than just the patch, because a painted patch always shows in side light. This is standard work in a house being opened up.
Can you paint the aluminum eaves, fascia and downspouts on our older Burlington house?
Yes. Aluminum trim that has chalked or faded is washed to remove the residue, which is the step that makes or breaks paint on aluminum, then primed with a bonding primer where the finish has worn and painted with two coats of exterior acrylic. Done that way it holds well and refreshes the whole roofline. We book exterior work for warm, dry weather.
