Painters in Etobicoke
Absolut Painting paints homes in Etobicoke: interiors, exteriors, trim, doors and cabinets. The Kingsway and Humber Valley houses are solid brick with formal rooms and heavy original trim, deep window reveals and plaster that has held up well but carries a century of paint. Closer to the lake, in Long Branch, Mimico and Alderwood, the houses are smaller bungalows and storey-and-a-halfs with stucco or siding outside and lower ceilings in. Along Humber Bay the work is in new condo towers. We walk whichever house you have and write a quote that lists every prep step.
Etobicoke, on the ground.
Heavy trim is the signature job in the older Etobicoke houses. Casings and baseboards with deep profiles hold decades of brushed paint, so the crew sands the build-up back, fills the dents, primes and sprays or brushes an enamel that settles into a hard, level finish. Plaster walls are checked for loose patches and hairline cracks, filled and primed. The lakeshore bungalows bring stucco and wood siding outside, which is washed, scraped and primed before any colour goes on. In a Humber Bay condo the surfaces are new drywall and the work runs on [the building's hours, with the elevator booked in advance].
On site the routine holds. Furniture moved to the middle and covered, floors protected, holes filled, cracks caulked, sanded and spot-primed. Two full coats on every surface, the ceiling and trim lines cut by hand, tape pulled while the paint is still soft. The crew cleans at the end of each day and walks the finished rooms with you before leaving, and a touch-up visit follows. Benjamin Moore and Sherwin-Williams paint, a [2-year] written workmanship warranty, insured and WSIB covered [John confirms]. John Kotlar quotes the job and leads the crew.
In Etobicoke the detail that decides the job is often the trim already on the wall, so the quote lists sanding and priming it as its own line.
Etobicoke covers brick Kingsway houses with plaster and heavy original trim, small stucco and siding bungalows near the lake, and new drywall condo suites along Humber Bay.
Houses take a driveway and a level carry for sprayers and ladders, while Humber Bay condos need a booked elevator and the building's working hours.
Trim and door enamelling in the older houses, full interior repaints, stucco and siding exteriors by the lake, and condo repaints before move-in.

Questions from Etobicoke
The original trim in our Kingsway house is thick with old paint. Can it be made crisp again without replacing it?
Usually, yes. The crew sands the built-up paint back until the profile reads clearly, fills chips and nail holes, primes the bare spots and applies two coats of a hard enamel. Where the build-up is too deep, we strip the worst sections before priming. [Paint older than the late 1970s may contain lead, so sanding is done wet or with a vacuum sander and the area is sealed.] The result is sharper lines and a trim you can wipe.
Can you paint the stucco on our lakeshore bungalow?
Yes. Stucco is pressure-washed, loose material and cracks are repaired with a matching patch, and the surface is primed with a masonry primer before two coats of an elastomeric or acrylic masonry paint. That product stretches with the small movements stucco makes through a Toronto winter. We paint exteriors in the warmer months when the surface and the overnight temperature are both above the paint's limit.
We have wood siding and soffits that are peeling. What does the prep look like?
Peeling wood is scraped back to a sound edge, feather-sanded so the step does not show, and spot-primed with an exterior primer. Bare wood gets a full primer coat. Then two coats of exterior acrylic. Where boards are rotten, we tell you before painting, because paint does not fix a board that needs replacing. The quote lists the scraping and priming so you can see where the hours go.
