Cabinet painting and spraying in Oshawa

Oshawa's older core has plaster walls, small rooms with several doorways, stained ceilings and finishes from many decades, while the north end is newer drywall in builder flat paint. Oak kitchens from the 1980s and 1990s take paint well once the grain is dealt with, and newer MDF and laminate fronts need the right bonding primer rather than more sanding. Cabinet painting takes every door off, preps it properly and sprays it with a hard waterborne enamel so the kitchen you own looks new.

Cabinet painting and spraying · Oshawa

Oshawa, on the ground.

Stain and odour sealing, texture removal, whole-house interiors, trim and doors, exteriors and cabinet refinishing are the regular Oshawa jobs. The kitchen is sealed in plastic, doors are removed and sprayed in a dust-controlled setup, boxes are finished in place and everything is rehung and adjusted before the walk-through.

Older Oshawa houses have usually been painted many times before, so the quote starts with sealing and repairing what is already on the wall.

What moves the quote in Oshawa

No figures published. The drivers, in order.

DriverWhat we look at
Number of doors and drawer frontsEach piece is cleaned, sanded, primed and sprayed on both sides. Thirty fronts is a different job from sixty.
Door styleRaised-panel and glazed doors have more edges and profiles to sand and more places for a run to hide than a flat slab.
Current finishBare or previously painted wood primes easily. Thermofoil, high-gloss laminate and old lacquer need a specific primer and more sanding.
Colour and sheenA dark colour over light cabinets, or a pure white over oak grain, can need an extra coat to cover evenly.

Island and pantry fronts count the same as any other door. The written quote lists the door count so you can see exactly what the job covers.

Cabinet painting and spraying questions from Oshawa

Can you spray cabinets in a Oshawa condo?

Yes. The doors are sprayed in a sealed setup with the kitchen tented in plastic, and the boxes are brushed or sprayed depending on the room. We book the elevator and keep to the building's work hours in Oshawa.

How many days is my Oshawa kitchen out of use?

Usually [n] days from the doors coming off to the last hinge adjustment. You can still use the sink and stove most evenings. The written quote gives the exact schedule for your Oshawa kitchen.

Our walls have a knockdown texture from an old renovation. Can they be made smooth?

Yes. The texture is sanded to knock down the high points, then the wall is skimmed with two or three thin coats of compound, sanded and primed before paint. It is dusty, careful work and the room is sealed while it happens. If you prefer to keep the texture, we paint it with a deep-pile roller so the coverage is even in the dips. The quote shows both so you can choose.

Can you paint the exterior brick on our south-end house, and should we?

It can be painted, but think first. Painted brick is permanent in practice, and brick that has been painted before needs the old coating checked for peeling. If you go ahead, the brick is washed, mortar repaired, primed with a masonry primer and painted with a breathable masonry paint so moisture can still escape. If the brick is sound and you simply want it fresher, a wash and repointing might be the better answer.
