Chantilly Lace

Trim, ceilings and modern kitchens where the wall colour needs a true white beside it. Almost no undertone, so it reads crisp in north light and bright in south light. Shows every patch, which is why prep comes first.

Notes

Chantilly Lace is the white most designers reach for when they want the trim to disappear and the wall colour to do the talking. It has barely any yellow or grey in it, which keeps it from going cream next to cooler walls.

On ceilings it lifts a room without reading blue. On trim in a semi-gloss or satin it gives a hard, wipeable edge that stays white for years. In a small room with little daylight it can feel cold on all four walls, so we usually keep it to trim, doors and ceilings there.

Questions about Chantilly Lace

Is Chantilly Lace too stark for walls?

In a room with good daylight it is a clean, gallery-style white. In a north-facing room it can feel cool, so we test it beside a warmer white like White Dove before committing.

What sheen for Chantilly Lace trim?

Satin or semi-gloss in Benjamin Moore Advance for trim and doors. Flat or matte on ceilings.
