Interior painting in Oshawa

Oshawa's older core has plaster walls, small rooms with several doorways, stained ceilings and finishes from many decades, while the north end is newer drywall in builder flat paint. Older walls bring plaster cracks and layers of old paint to prime over, and newer builds bring tall ceilings, open stairwells and builder-grade flat paint that soaks up a first coat. Interior painting from Absolut means furniture covered, holes filled, two full coats and edges cut by hand.

Interior painting · Oshawa

Oshawa, on the ground.

Stain and odour sealing, texture removal, whole-house interiors, trim and doors, exteriors and cabinet refinishing are the regular Oshawa jobs. The crew covers furniture and floors, repairs and spot-primes the walls, rolls two coats with hand-cut edges and walks the house with you before leaving.

Older Oshawa houses have usually been painted many times before, so the quote starts with sealing and repairing what is already on the wall.

What moves the quote in Oshawa

No figures published. The drivers, in order.

DriverWhat we look at
Wall area and ceiling heightA nine foot wall takes more paint and more ladder time than an eight foot one, and a two-storey foyer takes staging.
Condition of the wallsA few nail holes is normal prep. Nicotine, water stains, failing paint or plaster cracks need primer and repair before colour.
Colour changeGoing from a deep colour to a pale one, or from pale to deep, can need a tinted primer or a third coat to cover evenly.
Furniture and occupancyAn empty house paints faster than a lived-in one where each room is cleared, painted and put back in turn.

The paint line itself moves the quote less than people expect. Prep and access are what set the number, and the written quote shows each room as its own line.

Interior painting questions from Oshawa

Can you paint my Oshawa home while we live in it?

Yes. Most of our interior work is in occupied homes in Oshawa. We paint one or two rooms at a time, put furniture back each evening and keep the paint low-VOC so you can sleep in the house.

How soon can you start an interior job in Oshawa?

Usually within [n] weeks of the signed quote. Interior work runs all year, so winter is a good time to book a Oshawa interior while the exterior season is closed.

Our walls have a knockdown texture from an old renovation. Can they be made smooth?

Yes. The texture is sanded to knock down the high points, then the wall is skimmed with two or three thin coats of compound, sanded and primed before paint. It is dusty, careful work and the room is sealed while it happens. If you prefer to keep the texture, we paint it with a deep-pile roller so the coverage is even in the dips. The quote shows both so you can choose.

Can you paint the exterior brick on our south-end house, and should we?

It can be painted, but think first. Painted brick is permanent in practice, and brick that has been painted before needs the old coating checked for peeling. If you go ahead, the brick is washed, mortar repaired, primed with a masonry primer and painted with a breathable masonry paint so moisture can still escape. If the brick is sound and you simply want it fresher, a wash and repointing might be the better answer.
