Condo and apartment painting in Whitby
Condo and apartment painting is run around the building: elevator booked, work hours kept, low-VOC paint on the walls and the suite handed back on the date. First repaints over builder paint in Brooklin, downtown plaster and trim, stairwells, porches and exterior trim, and cabinet refinishing are the steady Whitby work.
Concept imageryWhitby, on the ground.
Whitby ranges from older downtown houses with plaster, narrow stairs and wood porches to recent subdivisions in Brooklin and the south end in builder flat paint. Newer towers bring open layouts, floor-to-ceiling glass, concrete ceilings and builder flat paint, and older low-rise apartments bring plaster, radiators and more trim. Older streets can mean street parking and tight stairs that take a plank setup, while Brooklin driveways and garages make staging easy. The crew works to the elevator window, covers floors and furniture, fills and sands, rolls two coats with hand-cut edges at glass and concrete and removes debris through the service corridor.
Newer parts of Whitby come in one builder colour from floor to ceiling, so the first repaint is as much about separating the surfaces as about choosing a colour.

No figures published. The drivers, in order.
| Driver | What we look at |
|---|---|
| Suite size and layout | A one-bedroom with an open living area paints quickly. A three-bedroom with a den, two bathrooms and long hallways takes longer. |
| Ceiling type | Smooth drywall ceilings roll normally. Exposed concrete, stipple or very tall ceilings take more care and more time. |
| Occupied or empty | An empty suite between tenants is the fastest version of this job. A furnished one adds moving and covering in each room. |
| Building access | Elevator windows, parking and work hours decide how many hours the crew can paint in a day, and therefore how many days the job takes. |
The building sets the rhythm. Once we know the elevator window and the hours, the day count on the quote is firm, and the paint line matters less than most people expect.
Condo and apartment painting questions from Whitby
Do you paint condos in Whitby before move-in?
Yes. Painting an empty Whitby suite between closing and move-in is the fastest way to do it. We book the elevator for the days between and have it done before the movers arrive.
What does my Whitby building need from you?
Usually an elevator booking, a certificate of insurance and WSIB clearance, and sometimes a deposit for the elevator pads. We supply the paperwork for Whitby buildings [John confirms] and keep to their work hours.
The wood railings and posts on our front porch are peeling. Can you repaint them?
Yes. Porch wood is scraped to a sound edge, sanded, spot-primed on bare wood and painted with two coats of exterior enamel, and the floor with a porch and floor paint made for foot traffic. Soft or rotten pieces are pointed out before painting rather than painted over. Porch work is booked for warm, dry weather so the coats cure properly.
Our downtown Whitby stairwell is narrow and straight, with no landing. How do you paint the wall above it?
With an adjustable ladder that sits level on two different steps, or a plank between that ladder and a second one at the top, secured before anyone climbs. The railing is padded and the treads are covered. The crew works the wall in sections from the top down and keeps a wet edge so the sheen stays even. It is slow, careful work and it is listed on its own on the quote.
