Cabinet painting and spraying in Scarborough
Scarborough is largely postwar bungalows and side-splits with drywall walls, textured popcorn ceilings and brick or stucco exteriors. Oak kitchens from the 1980s and 1990s take paint well once the grain is dealt with, and newer MDF and laminate fronts need the right bonding primer rather than more sanding. Cabinet painting takes every door off, preps it properly and sprays it with a hard waterborne enamel so the kitchen you own looks new.
Concept imageryScarborough, on the ground.
Whole-house interiors with ceilings, stairwells in side-splits, trim and doors, and exterior brick, stucco and trim make up most of the Scarborough work. The kitchen is sealed in plastic, doors are removed and sprayed in a dust-controlled setup, boxes are finished in place and everything is rehung and adjusted before the walk-through.
In Scarborough the ceiling is often the biggest decision in the house, so we price painting the texture and removing it as two separate options.

On the quote, from the start.
- 01Every door, drawer front and hinge removed, labelled and tracked so each one goes back where it came from
- 02Degreasing with a dedicated cleaner, then sanding to a dull surface so the primer has something to grip
- 03A bonding primer suited to the cabinet material, whether wood, MDF, laminate or a previous factory finish
- 04Two sprayed coats of waterborne enamel on doors and fronts, with the boxes masked and finished to match
- 05Kitchen sealed off with plastic, counters and appliances masked, and the floor covered end to end
- 06Doors rehung, hinges adjusted, new pulls fitted if you supply them, and a touch-up visit under the [2-year] warranty
No figures published. The drivers, in order.
| Driver | What we look at |
|---|---|
| Number of doors and drawer fronts | Each piece is cleaned, sanded, primed and sprayed on both sides. Thirty fronts is a different job from sixty. |
| Door style | Raised-panel and glazed doors have more edges and profiles to sand and more places for a run to hide than a flat slab. |
| Current finish | Bare or previously painted wood primes easily. Thermofoil, high-gloss laminate and old lacquer need a specific primer and more sanding. |
| Colour and sheen | A dark colour over light cabinets, or a pure white over oak grain, can need an extra coat to cover evenly. |
Island and pantry fronts count the same as any other door. The written quote lists the door count so you can see exactly what the job covers.
Cabinet painting and spraying questions from Scarborough
Can you spray cabinets in a Scarborough condo?
Yes. The doors are sprayed in a sealed setup with the kitchen tented in plastic, and the boxes are brushed or sprayed depending on the room. We book the elevator and keep to the building's work hours in Scarborough.
How many days is my Scarborough kitchen out of use?
Usually [n] days from the doors coming off to the last hinge adjustment. You can still use the sink and stove most evenings. The written quote gives the exact schedule for your Scarborough kitchen.
Can the brick on our Scarborough bungalow be painted?
Yes, with the right product and the right prep. Brick is washed, loose mortar is repaired, and a masonry primer goes on before a breathable masonry paint, so moisture inside the wall can still escape. Painted brick is a one-way decision, because taking paint off brick later is difficult, so we talk that through at the walkthrough before you commit.
Should we paint our popcorn ceiling or have it removed?
Both are done in Scarborough bungalows. Painting is the smaller job: the texture is sealed, stains are blocked with a shellac primer and the ceiling is rolled with a deep-pile sleeve. Removal means scraping, skimming the drywall flat, sanding and priming before paint, which is more days and more dust but leaves a modern ceiling. [Texture applied before 1980 may contain asbestos and should be tested before scraping.] We quote both so you can choose.
