Cabinet painting and spraying in Richmond Hill
Cabinet painting takes every door off, preps it properly and sprays it with a hard waterborne enamel so the kitchen you own looks new. Richmond Hill mixes postwar houses with plaster, bulkheads and original oak kitchens around Yonge and Bayview with newer subdivision and infill houses in builder flat paint. Oak kitchens from the 1980s and 1990s take paint well once the grain is dealt with, and newer MDF and laminate fronts need the right bonding primer rather than more sanding.
Concept imageryRichmond Hill, on the ground.
Most houses take a driveway and a level entry, and attached garages give the crew a dry place to set up a sealed spray area for cabinet doors. The kitchen is sealed in plastic, doors are removed and sprayed in a dust-controlled setup, boxes are finished in place and everything is rehung and adjusted before the walk-through.
A Richmond Hill kitchen often still has its original oak doors, so cabinet refinishing is quoted as its own job with a sample door before anything is sprayed.

On the quote, from the start.
- 01Every door, drawer front and hinge removed, labelled and tracked so each one goes back where it came from
- 02Degreasing with a dedicated cleaner, then sanding to a dull surface so the primer has something to grip
- 03A bonding primer suited to the cabinet material, whether wood, MDF, laminate or a previous factory finish
- 04Two sprayed coats of waterborne enamel on doors and fronts, with the boxes masked and finished to match
- 05Kitchen sealed off with plastic, counters and appliances masked, and the floor covered end to end
- 06Doors rehung, hinges adjusted, new pulls fitted if you supply them, and a touch-up visit under the [2-year] warranty
No figures published. The drivers, in order.
| Driver | What we look at |
|---|---|
| Number of doors and drawer fronts | Each piece is cleaned, sanded, primed and sprayed on both sides. Thirty fronts is a different job from sixty. |
| Door style | Raised-panel and glazed doors have more edges and profiles to sand and more places for a run to hide than a flat slab. |
| Current finish | Bare or previously painted wood primes easily. Thermofoil, high-gloss laminate and old lacquer need a specific primer and more sanding. |
| Colour and sheen | A dark colour over light cabinets, or a pure white over oak grain, can need an extra coat to cover evenly. |
Island and pantry fronts count the same as any other door. The written quote lists the door count so you can see exactly what the job covers.
Cabinet painting and spraying questions from Richmond Hill
Can you spray cabinets in a Richmond Hill condo?
Yes. The doors are sprayed in a sealed setup with the kitchen tented in plastic, and the boxes are brushed or sprayed depending on the room. We book the elevator and keep to the building's work hours in Richmond Hill.
How many days is my Richmond Hill kitchen out of use?
Usually [n] days from the doors coming off to the last hinge adjustment. You can still use the sink and stove most evenings. The written quote gives the exact schedule for your Richmond Hill kitchen.
Should the bulkhead over our kitchen sink be painted the wall colour or the ceiling colour?
Either works, but it is a decision to make on purpose. Painting the bulkhead the wall colour makes it read as part of the wall and lowers the visual ceiling in a smaller kitchen. Painting it the ceiling colour makes it disappear into the ceiling and keeps the wall colour from running into an awkward box. We paint a sample on it at the walkthrough so you can judge it in the room.
Can our 1990s oak kitchen be painted so the grain does not show through?
Yes. Oak has an open grain that telegraphs through paint unless it is filled. The doors are degreased, sanded, grain-filled, sanded again and primed with a bonding primer before two sprayed coats of enamel. Skipping the filler leaves a textured door, which some clients want and most do not. We show you a sample door both ways so you choose before the kitchen is taken apart.
